Welcome to spring,
And welcome, many new friends and faces! I am so thankful you are here, reading this, and just know that I’m sipping tea and thinking of all the people I know well or hardly at all but what matters is something in this wide world connected us, and I’m grateful.
Writing lately has been gold. Precious, rare, heavy.1
Never before have I written a book under contract. Never before have I written a book under contract while organizing an anthology and preparing to market my first full-length novel’s release.
Never before have all my dreams finally been happening, and never before have I been fighting the overwhelming.
I don’t think I have the answer to how to get through the upcoming busy season, except that I hope to keep my eyes up so I can see the trees and flowers bloom, listen to some old-school worship music, keep healthy, remain committed to Saturdays off, and re-assessing the to-do list frequently so I’m using my best time for writing, while marketing smart—not in a never-ending, exhausting way. Feel free to send me an email or message me on Instagram in the next few weeks and tell me to take five minutes and drink tea or sit in the sunshine. I could use the reminder!
It’s exciting, all the things that are happening! Here are some of them:
Crowns, a royal-themed Heartbooks anthology, is open for submissions until April 30th, and you can find all the details here!
Hearts is coming soon. So soon! The cover reveal is April 24th and I could not be more excited! This book is a soul-book… a story that is very personal and has been many years in coming. I’m thrilled to share this endorsement, which will be on the front cover!
“Our hearts are fragile things, just as prone to shatter as they are to swell. Brittany Eden captures that beautiful dichotomy in her aptly named novel, Hearts. It features an art-loving main character who seems to stray between the lines of reality while asking the questions we are often too scared to ask. A creative, fascinating debut for fans of whimsy and wonder.”
—AUTUMN KRAUSE, author of A Dress for the Wicked

Until the flowers bloom,
Brittany
P.S.: Eden (Isn’t it just like you?), by Benjamin William Hastings. It’s just, watching is calming and beautiful and I just needed the reminder to return to the gardens, remember the garden, recall there will be renewed trees, in the future…
P.P.S.: being authorly and readerly often makes me feel like reading3 is part of my job, so watching shows and movies breaks my mind from the word-busy-zone sometimes and this is what’s been amazing: The Chosen—just, everything, and I mean, I read the book, I know how it ends. And STILL. Alchemy of Souls, season two—also, every brooding thing. Little Women—the sisterhood, the colours, the intensity, the visuals.4
If you need books to read, I suggest checking out my publisher this week, because Quill & Flame has been open for a year and to celebrate, there’s a $0.99 cent sale on currently released ebooks!5
Heavier, I assure you, than it appears in my stories and posts on social media.
It’s going to be amazing!!!
I have still been reading though: I finished the Doon series by Lorie Langdon and Carey Corp; finished the Metcalfes series by Ronie Kendig; made progress in the SNAP Agency series by Natalie Walters; finished the Celestial Kingdom duology by Sue Lynn Tan; and LOVED The Red Palace by June Hur. So many good books, it’s amazing.
This is a K-drama, not the classic. But, apparently liberally based on the classic? I don’t even care it was incredible; I was so drawn in.
The sale excludes preorders, and novellas: click here to check it out!
